Pilot adjusting controls in cockpit

Aviation Education

Training Built Around You

Flight instruction tailored to your experience, your aircraft, and your goals — not a syllabus designed for someone else.

The Thorny Approach

Good flight instruction is not about filling a logbook. It is about building a pilot. Every student arrives with a different background, different habits, and different goals. The job of a good instructor is to meet them where they are and help them get where they want to go.

Training is primarily conducted in the student's own aircraft. Flying the airplane you actually fly — in the conditions you actually face — produces better, more durable skills than training in a school aircraft and then transferring those skills later.

A Cessna 150 is available when appropriate, but the default is always: your airplane, your mission, your training.

Personalized Flight Training

One-on-One Instruction

Whether you are returning to flying after a long break, working through a specific challenge, or simply want to sharpen skills you already have, training is designed around what you need.

Flight Reviews

A thorough, personalized biennial flight review focused on your aircraft, your flying environment, and your actual proficiency — not a checkbox exercise.

Rusty Pilot Training

Structured reintroduction to flying for pilots who have been away from the cockpit. Comfortable, confidence-building, and paced to your readiness.

Student Pilot Tune-Ups

Targeted work for student pilots who are stuck, struggling, or just want a second perspective to break through a plateau.

Proficiency Training

Deliberate practice on the maneuvers, procedures, and scenarios that matter most for the flying you actually do.

Stick-and-Rudder Skills

Back-to-basics airmanship work: coordination, feel, energy management, and the fundamentals that underpin everything else.

Crosswind & Landing Work

Focused sessions on the approaches and landings that challenge most pilots — crosswinds, short fields, soft fields, and consistency.

Traditional Flight Planning

Dead reckoning, pilotage, and chart-based navigation — the skills that make you a more capable and confident pilot regardless of what the avionics are doing.
